Tournament Rules

Overview of the Tournament

The tournament will take place in Memphis, TN at various locations throughout the city. All rounds may or may not take place at the same location. It is important for all competitors to check updates for times and location changes on the website. It is also important to provide valid and accurate phone numbers, and email addresses, so we may communicate updates and changes.

The number of entries will decide the number of rounds. We categorize each round into a specific zone. A zone is a categorization of the round. There will be 5 zones. The name of the zones are as follow: Starter, Grind, Clutch, Prime, and Final. Each zone will have different regulations that govern each round. It is important to go over those regulations so you can plan accordingly. The rules will be the same across all zones and rounds. Gaming stewards reserve the right to exercise their authority if they feel there is a need to issue a warning or disqualify a competitor.

What to Expect?

Unlike most other gaming tournaments, this is not a lose once and go home. Each round has a series of games. A competitor must win the series in order to win the round. A round can be anywhere from a series of 3 games to of 7 games. The tournament will begin with a series of 5, and the competitor must win 3 out of 5 games in order to advance. This gives each person a greater opportunity to advance to the next round.

In order to advance to the next zone a competitor must win their round. There will be a new entry fee for each zone. Each time a competitor advances to a new zone the fee decreases.

Most competitions will take place outside under tents at site locations. Seating and tables will not be provided. Feel free to bring your own seating. When you purchase an entry into the tournament you agree to abide by all the rules set forth. You also, acknowledge that if you fail to abide by the rules and regulations you can and/or will be disqualified from the tournament with NO REFUND!

REFUND POLICY

NO REFUNDS: All tournament entry fees are final and non-refundable once registration is completed. Players who withdraw, fail to attend, arrive late, or are disqualified under the tournament rules will not receive a refund.

Event Cancellation: If the tournament is canceled by the organizer and is not rescheduled, registered players will receive a refund of the entry fee.

Rules and Clarifications

  1. No profanity towards ANY competitors or gaming stewards! PROFANITY = IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION
  2. No violence towards ANY competitor or gaming stewards! VIOLENCE = IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION
  3. Excessive tardiness and holding other opponents up = STEWARDS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY YOU
  4. MUST stay for your ENTIRE series. Leaving early leads to disqualification.
  5. Each zone has an entry fee. If you win your round, you get to enter into the next zone.
  6. Entry price will decrease for each bracket zone from Starter -> Grind -> Clutch -> Prime -> Final
  7. Odd entries will play best loser
    1. Best loser tie will be decided on the following:
      1. Best series record
      1. Average game points for entire series
      1. Average allowed points for entire series
      1. Highest final score for game final game of losing series
  8. Must not damage any equipment.

Regulations

  1. All games will be played on the hardest level.
  2. No sliders will be changed for any handicap.
  3. No login for profiles is permitted.
  4. No customs or personal controllers allowed. Controllers will be supplied.
  5. Competitor must win the best of the series.
  6. No pausing the game. (Need Gaming Steward Approval)

Regulations for Tournament

Most of the rules below will depend on the number of entries. Once the sign up is finalized the regulations will be set. Below is a figure that gives an example of the tournament workflow.

  1. Round 1, Starter Zone competitor must pay the $100 entry fee on the website. The round will be a series of 5. Each quarter will be 5 minutes. First competitor that wins 3 of the 5 games wins the round and moves on to Round 2, which is Starter Pinch Zone. The user will NOT have to pay to play in the Starter Pinch Zone. However, the round will be the best of 3. Each quarter will be 5 minutes. First competitor that wins 2 out of 3 games wins the round and moves on to the next zone.
  2. Round 3, Grind Zone; Competitor must pay the $70 entry fee on the website. The round will be a series of 5. Each quarter will be 5 minutes. First competitor that wins 3 of the 5 games wins the round and move on to Round 4 which is Grind Pinch Zone. The user will NOT have to pay to play in the Grind Pinch Zone. However, the Round will be the best of 3. Each quarter will be 5 minutes. First competitor that wins 2 out of 3 games wins the round and moves on to the next zone.
  3. Round 5, Clutch Zone; Competitor must pay the $50 entry fee on the website. The round will be a series of 5. Each quarter will be 6 minutes. First competitor that wins 3 of the 5 games wins the round and move on to Round 6 which is Clutch Pinch Zone. The user will NOT have to pay to play in the Clutch Pinch Zone. However, the Round will be the best of 3. Each quarter will be 6 minutes. First competitor that wins 2 out of 3 games wins the round and moves on to the next zone.
  4. Round 7, Prime Zone; Competitor must pay the $40 entry fee on the website. The round will be a series of 5. Each quarter will be 7 minutes. First competitor that wins 3 of the 5 games wins the round and move on to Round 8 which is Prime Pinch Zone. The user will NOT have to pay to play in the Prime Pinch Zone. However, the Round will be the best of 3. Each quarter will be 7 minutes. First competitor that wins 2 out of 3 games wins the round and moves on to the next zone.
  5. Round 9, Semi Final; Competitor must pay the $20 entry fee on the website. The round will be a series of 5. Each quarter will be 7 minutes. First competitor that wins 3 of the 5 games wins the round and move on to Round 10 which the Finals.
  6. For the last two individuals that reaches the final zone of the bracket it will be the best of 7 with 7 minutes each quarter.

Just note. If there are more rounds there will be more zones. The pattern of what you see above will be similar. There may be a increase in minutes per games.

Regulations for Matchups

  1. During the course of the tournament, users will be randomly matched with opponents for the first round.
  2. For all matches opponents will play on the same screen and same console.
  3. Participants should show up 30 minutes early for their match.
  4. Failure to notify gaming stewards of late arrival will lead to disqualification with no refund.
  5. Depending on where you start in the bracket will decide who you play for the next round.
  6. Cannot change matchups.
